Discussion Meeting on Waste Management within SONATRACH

As part of the implementation of its HSE policy, the SONATRACH Group organized today, at the headquarters of the General Management, a discussion meeting dedicated to the topic of waste management.

Presided over by Mr. Rachid HACHICHI, Chairman and CEO of the Group, the meeting brought together approximately 150 participants representing various departments of the Company. It provided an opportunity for a rich and constructive exchange regarding the challenges related to optimizing the management of waste generated by the various activities of SONATRACH.

This initiative is part of the implementation of the new Law No. 25-02 of February 20, 2025, concerning the management, control, and disposal of waste, as well as SONATRACH’s strategic alignment with its environmental objectives. It also reflects the Group’s commitment to adopting sustainable consumption and production practices, while strengthening its efforts to reduce its environmental footprint and accelerate the transition towards a circular.

The discussions focused on diagnosing the current waste management practices within the company’s facilities, identifying technical, organizational, logistical, and regulatory gaps, as well as sharing experiences, best practices, and innovations related to waste treatment, recycling, and recovery.

Following this meeting, an operational roadmap will be established with a target horizon of 2030. This roadmap will aim, in particular, to reduce waste at the source, optimize sorting, collection, storage, and disposal processes, while developing a systematic approach to waste recovery within the framework of the circular economy.
 
 
This event reflects SONATRACH’s deep and lasting commitment to environmental preservation and the sustainability of its industrial activities.
