The Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of SONATRACH Group , Mr Rachid HACHICHI , took part , today, at the International Convention Center, « Abdelatif Rahal » in Algiers, in the works of the 4th Meeting of the Steering Committee of the Trans-Saharan gas pipeline Project TSGP, within a delegation led by The Minister of Energy and Mines and Renewable Energies, Mr Mohamed ARKAB, as part of the meeting of the Tripartite Committee which includes in addition to Mr Mohamed ARKAB , Mr Ekperipke EKPO, Minister of Nigeria Petroleum Resources, Mr Sahabi OUMAROU , Minister of Petroleum of Niger, in the presence of Colonel Maizama ABDOULAYE , Minister of Water Resources, Sanitation and Environment of Niger.
The meeting of the Tripartite Steering Committee was preceded, this morning, by the task force meeting comprising SONATRACH (Algeria), NNPC (NIGERIA) and SONIDEP (NIGER), the conclusions of which were reported to the Steering Committee including the above-mentioned Ministers, as well as CEOs of the three companies. This Committee adopted and validated the works of the Technical Task Force, made up of experts representing the three countries concerned by the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP).
This meeting was rounded off by a ceremony organized at the International Convention Center for the signing of a contract to update the feasibility study between the three companies and the PENPSEN Design Office. A compensation agreement for the expenses relating to this study was also signed between SONATRACH, NNPC and SONIDEP, in addition to the signing of a non-disclosure agreement by these companies.
On this occasion, SONATRACH renewed its commitment to bringing to fruition this important project underpinned by its outstanding experience in this type of energy projects on the continental and strategic levels, which offers promising prospects for the African Continent and strengthens cooperation between the countries crossed by the gas pipeline.
As a reminder, this trans-Saharan gas pipeline will allow the transport of nearly 20 to 30 billion cubic meters of gas intended to international markets, from Nigeria, across Niger and Algeria. This project benefits from the support of the African Union and the African Bank of Development.
