As part of the implementation of the instructions of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid TEBBOUNE, so as to strengthen African economic integration and develop sustainable development projects on the African continent, three Memoranda of Understanding were signed between subsidiaries of SONATRACH Group and the Nigerien Petroleum Company SONIDEP, during a ceremony held today.
The ceremony took place in the presence of Mr. Mohamed ARKAB, Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons, Mr. Hamadou TINI, Minister of Petroleum of the Republic of Niger, Mr. Nour Eddine DAOUDI, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of SONATRACH Group, Colonel Ali Seibou HASSANE, General Director of SONIDEP, as well as the Chairmen and CEOs of SONATRACH‘s subsidiaries.
The first MoU, signed between the National Company of Geophysics (ENAGEO) and SONIDEP, deals with seismic acquisition and the processing of seismic data on the Nigerien territory.
The second MoU concerning the creation of a Joint-Venture (JV) to undertake oil and gas drilling works in Nigerien territory was signed between the National Drilling Company (ENAFOR) and SONIDEP.
Concurrently, the third MoU was signed between the National Company for Marketing and Distribution of Petroleum Products (NAFTAL) and SONIDEP. The latter relates to cooperation in the field of petroleum product distribution in Niger, the realization of filling centers, as well as training. This MoU includes also the creation of a Joint-Venture between NAFTAL and SONIDEP for the manufacturing, formulation, distribution and storage of bitumen.
The signing of these three Memoranda of Understanding, which fall under the scope of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between SONATRACH and SONIDEP on October 1st, 2024, aims at expanding the partnership between the two companies and also expresses the common will of Algeria and Niger to strengthen their economic cooperation and develop sustainable strategic partnerships between the two brotherly countries.
