IN AMENAS, 3rd August 2026
On 2nd August 2026, around 3.00 PM, an eruption without ignition burst out during a workover (well maintenance), at TG 16 gas well at Tiguentourine field, part of the In Amenas Production Division.
No casualties were reported further to this incident.
As soon as the incident occurred, a safety perimeter was established, and the Mutual Aid Plan was activated by the Tactical Command Post (PCT) of In Amenas hub, enabling to combine SONATRACH Group resources to contain the incident.
Following this eruption, the gas caught fire around 6:20 PM.
All material and human resources have been activated to contain the incident, and well control experts have been called in on site.
