As part of its ongoing commitment to contribute to the strengthening of national water security, SONATRACH today announces the completion of the final stage of increasing the production rate of the Koudiat Draouch seawater desalination plant, located in the borough of Brihan, wilaya of El Tarf , within a record time of less than 48 hours, in accordance with the technical protocols adopted during the progressive commissioning stages.
This achievement marks a decisive milestone in the development of the project, with the plant now fully ready to reach its maximum expected production capacity of 300,000 m³ per day in the forthcoming days.
This increase in production will significantly strengthen the regular and sustainable supply of drinking water for the benefit of the wilayas of El Tarf and Annaba, therefore, contributing to the improvement of public service quality and the stability of access to this vital resource.
This structuring project constitutes a strategic pillar in national efforts aimed at ensuring sustainable water resources. It is expected to meet the needs of more than 3 million citizens, in compliance with public policies aimed at addressing water scarcity challenges through effective and sustainable solutions. With this initiative, SONATRACH reasserts its firm commitment to supporting major national projects, while ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability at all stages of implementation and operation.
