A key player on the global energy market

SONATRACH, A pioneer in the LNG industry

The Liquefaction-Separation Activity (LQS) is entrusted with the mission of transformating hydrocarbons by the liquefaction of natural gas and the separation of LPG.Pioneer in LNG, SONATRACH has risen to the rank of the world’s very first players in the production and marketing of Liquified Natural Gas and by-products such as ethane, propane, butane and gasoline.

The fist liquefaction complex in the world denominated GL4Z (ex-CAMEL) was constructed in 1964 in Arzew.

To satisfy a strong demand of the global market, SONATRACH has developed its production capacities by the commissioning of four new liquefaction complexes.

Today, SONATRACH owns a significant LNG production capacity of 56 million cubic meters/year, which allows it to supply its clients in the Mediterranean Basin, in Western and Northern Europe, in Asia as well as everywhere where trading and operational conditions allow it.
