SONATRACH and the German company VNG AG sign a Memorandum of Understanding

SONATRACH and VNG AG (Germany) signed, today, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in order to explore opportunities of cooperation in areas of common interest including green hydrogen and reduction of methane emissions.

The signing ceremony took place at the headquarters of SONATRACH, and was attended by its Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Nour Eddine DAOUDI, Mr. Ulf HEITMÜLLER, Chairman of the Executive Board at VNG AG, and Mr. Hans-Joachim POLK, board member of VNG.

This MoU is the outcome of the discussions engaged by both parties under the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed on December 20th, 2022.

Through this MoU, the parties aim to explore new synergies by implementing concrete actions, particularly in the development of green hydrogen and ammonia projects, as well as cooperating on methane emissions reduction.

This MoU, signed by the two parties, expresses their mutual trust and shared commitment to taking up the specific challenges that the hydrocarbons sector faces in terms of decarbonization. It also represents SONATRACH’s resolution to underpin the transition to neutral energy sources and contribute to addressing the climate change issue.
