As part of SONATRACH’s delegation participation in the activities of the Gastech 2025 exhibition and conference, held in the Italian city of Milan from September 9 to 12, 2025, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the SONATRACH Group, Mr. Rachid HACHICHI, accompanied by senior executives, held today a series of meetings with the companies present in Milan during the 3rd day of this international event.
The CEO of SONATRACH met with a delegation from the American company Chevron, led by Mr. John COOK, Vice President of Business Development. The two parties discussed the progress of talks related to opportunities for the development of hydrocarbon resources in the identified areas of interest in the Ahnet and Berkine basins, pursuant to the Memorandum of Understanding signed between SONATRACH and Chevron on June 13, 2024.
During another meeting, Mr Hachichi met with Mr. Makato INOMOTO , Executive Manager of liquefied natural gas and ethane at the Japanese Company Itochu, which entertains a working relationship with SONATRACH in the operation of LNG transport vessels.
The company O.C.I., specialized in fertilizer production, was also another step on the meeting agenda. Mr. HACHICHI met with Mr. Ahmed EL HOUSHI, CEO, to discuss joint projects.
During another meeting, the CEO of SONATRACH held discussions with Mr. Halfdan MELANG, CEO of the Norwegian company I.C.I. Finance, specialized in financing and implementing low-carbon energy projects. Both parties explored possibilities for future partnership.
The presence of the SONATRACH CEO and his delegation in Milan was also an opportunity to visit the two SONATRACH subsidiaries based in that city: Marie Consult and Transmed. He received a detailed presentation of their activities.
It should be noted that Marie Consult is in charge of services dealing with the operation and maintenance of the gas transportation system, while Transmed is in charge of the commercial operation of transported gas.
During this visit, Mr. Rachid HACHICHI also oversaw the official appointment of Mr. Rachid ZERDANI as head of the two subsidiaries Marie Consult and Transmed as Managing Director.
Finally, the CEO of SONATRACH and his delegation visited the headquarters of the company Saipem, where they were welcomed by its CEO, Mr. Alessandro POLETTI. After a working session between the two delegations, the SONATRACH delegation toured Saipem’s premises, notably stopping at the office dedicated to the competitive basic engineering study of the integrated phosphate project.
These meetings reaffirm SONATRACH’s commitment to strengthening its international partnerships and to developing future cooperation opportunities, thus, consolidating its position as a reliable partner in the global energy market.
