These meetings aim to consolidate the existing partnerships, assessing new opportunities for cooperation and consider prospects for development of SONATRACH’s activities in the oil & gas upstream.

The program for this visit started on October 12th with a meeting with ExxonMobil’s senior officials, and focused on prospects for cooperation in exploration, as well as opportunities for developing and maximizing on hydrocarbon resources. This is part of the strong relationship between the two companies, highlighted notably by the signing in May 2024 of a memorandum of understanding to review development opportunities for hydrocarbon resources in the Ahnet and Gourara basins.

SONATRACH ‘s delegation resumed its meeting schedule with a working session with Halliburton executives on October 13th, 2026, at their headquarters. The discussions focused particularly on technological and digital solutions, innovation, and opportunities for collaboration on future initiatives. A visit to the facilities and presentations of technologies developed by Halliburton were also included in the program.

In September 2025, the two partners reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening this cooperation in exploration, oilfield services, training, and digitalization. That same year, new strategic directions were outlined, including artificial intelligence and the deployment of technologies aimed at reducing the carbon footprint.

On the same day, the SONATRACH delegation proceeded with its talks in Houston with Devon Energy. The meeting focused on potential cooperation in exploration and production, developing upstream activities, and identifying new investment opportunities.

Through these meetings, SONATRACH reasserts its commitment to strengthening its relationships with the major international players of the energy industry, promoting the transfer of technology and expertise, and identifying new partnership opportunities to support the sustainable development and valorization of national energy resources.
