The curtain fell on June 26, 2025, marking the end of the 12ᵗʰ edition of SONATRACH’s Scientific and Technical Days (JST), held from June 24 to 26 at the “Ahmed Ben Ahmed” Conference Center in Oran. The event brought together high-level national and international participants and featured rich scientific and professional exchanges, once again confirming its strategic importance in Algeria’s energy and scientific agenda.
JST 12 gathered 1,158 participants and received 358 scientific contributions, distributed across 18 oral sessions and 6 poster sessions. The program also featured 7 high-level panels, 6 strategic workshops, and 14 keynote lectures by renowned speakers, making it a true platform for dialogue on issues related to energy, research, and innovation.
In his closing remarks, SONATRACH’s CEO, Mr. Rachid HACHICHI, expressed his satisfaction with the success of this edition, stating that it “strengthened the bridge between academia and the energy industry.” He emphasized that nearly half of the contributions came from both national and international academic circles, enriching the discussions and specialized workshops.
Mr. HACHICHI also stressed that the ideas, expertise, and solutions shared during the event reflect the high level achieved by this edition, adding that this success “is not only SONATRACH’s but the result of synergy between knowledge and the energy industry, thanks to the collaboration of all participants.”
Awards were presented for the best scientific contributions of this edition:
- Scientific research as a key to success for the development and integration of alternative energies – Mr. BACHA Sedik
- Best Idea: R&D in the field of nuclear energy (treatment of T-Norm nuclear waste) – Mr. AIT ABDERAHMANE Hamid
- Best Panel: Digital Transformation – Toward the Petroleum Industry of Tomorrow – Mr. Dong SHENGMIN (Huawei)
- Best Presentation: “Barrier Coatings and Thin Films for Resistance to Renewable Hydrogen” – Mr. CHAMMA Khaled
A special tribute was paid to Dr. Nadia HADDOUM, project manager at SONATRACH’s Executive Directorate for Business Development, for her achievement at the 29ᵗʰ World Gas Conference in Beijing, where she won the award for “Industry – Best Practices in the Value Chain” for her presentation: “Innovative Solutions to Overcome Instability in Carbonate Reservoir Drilling.” JST 12 reaffirmed SONATRACH’s commitment to strengthening the dialogue between science and energy, consolidating its role as a responsible leader and strategic partner in the energy industry.
