As part of his ongoing commitment to ensuring energy security and promoting economic development In the various regions of the country, the Chairman and CEO of the SONATRACH Group, Mr. Rachid HACHICHI, conducted a working and inspection visit today in the wilaya of Adrar , accompanied by a high-level delegation composed of senior executives of the Group.
This visit aimed to closely review the main oil projects, which constitute a fundamental pillar to strengthen national energy security and support local development.
The visit program began with a trip to the headquarters of the regional management of the production division in Adrar, located in Hassi Ilatou, 90 km from the capital of the wilaya, under the Exploration and Production activity. The Chairman and CEO attended a detailed technical presentation on the development plan of this management, particularly concerning the Sebaa, Hassi Ilatou, and Dchira fields, which ensure a continuous supply of crude oil to the Adrar refinery.
During this visit, Mr. Rachid HACHICHI met with the workers at the headquarters of the Hassi Ilatou Regional Directorate, expressing his deep appreciation for their sustained efforts in maintaining energy production. He emphasized the crucial importance that SONATRACH places on human resources, considered the cornerstone in achieving the Group’s strategic objectives. He reaffirmed SONATRACH’s commitment to investing in training, promoting a culture of performance and professional excellence, thereby ensuring the sustainability of achievements and the long-term development of the energy sector.
In a second step, the delegation visited the Adrar refinery, located in the Sebaa region, 40 km north of the wilaya.
An overall presentation was given on the different units and facilities of the refinery, which was commissioned in 2007. Its annual processing capacity is 600,000 tons of petroleum products, with an annual production of 160,000 tons of gasoline, 190,000 tons of diesel, as well as butane, propane, and kerosene. The refinery supplies the wilayas of Adrar, Timimoun, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, Ghardaïa, El Menia, In Salah, Tamanrasset, Béchar, Tlemcen, and Tindouf.
Next, the company Naftal, a 100% subsidiary of SONATRACH, presented its fuel distribution activities in the wilaya of Adrar , which include 42 service stations, a liquefied petroleum gas filling center, a fuel storage tank, and an aviation supply center. Naftal also ensures the supply of diesel, unleaded gasoline, LPG, and kerosene to the south western wilayas, thus, meeting the growing demand for petroleum products in these regions.
The Chairman and CEO conducted a field visit to the Adrar refinery, inspecting the various production facilities that underwent partial maintenance during June and July 2025. This periodic maintenance operation was carried out exclusively by Algerian expertise, demonstrating the high level of proficiency of SONATRACH engineers and technicians in managing these complex processes.
At the conclusion of his visit, Mr. Rachid HACHICHI inaugurated the Occupational Health Center within the living quarters of the Adrar refinery. This center is equipped with the latest technologies to ensure comprehensive medical care for workers, including prevention, examinations, guidance, and follow-up. Through this visit, SONATRACH reaffirms its strong commitment to ensuring a regular supply of petroleum products, particularly in the south western wilayas, while continuing to strengthen its production capacities and develop its projects throughout the entire hydrocarbon value chain, serving the national economy and aligning with sustainable development goals.
