The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the SONATRACH Group conducts a work visit in the Wilaya of Adrar

As part of the continuous commitment to ensure Algeria energy security and promote the economic development of the different regions of the country, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the SONATRACH Group Mr . Rachid HACHICHI led, today, a work visit in the wilaya of Adrar. Accompanied by an important high-level delegation including Senior Executives of the Group, Mr. HACHICHI inspected during his visit several major  oil projects which contribute to the national energy security while providing decisive   support  to the development of the Local content.

The CEO and the accompanying delegation started their program with a visit to the headquarters of Adrar Regional Production Directorate, located in Hassi Illatou, some 90 km from the Head Office of the Wilaya where they were briefed on a detailed technical presentation about the development plan of this Direction, notably, concerning the Hassi IIlatou, Dechira and Sebaa fields, which ensure the continuous oil supply of Adrar refinery.

Also, at this stage of his visit, SONATRACH CEO met with workers to whom he expressed his heartfelt gratitude for their steady efforts to guarantee the ongoing production. On this occasion,  Mr.HACHICHI underligned in particular the paramount importance that SONATRACH gives to the human capital , a crucial pilar in achieving the Group’s strategic objectives, stressing that enhancing and development  skills is a priority for the company. In this context, he reiterated SONATRACH’s commitment to pursue the investment in training and promoting a culture of performance and excellence aiming at ensuring the continuity of the Group’s achivements and the sustainable development of the national energy sector.

During a second stage, the delegation visited the Adrar refinery, located in the Sebaa region, 40 km North of the wilaya. On site, the CEO attended a comprehensive presentation of the various units and installations of the refinery. Commissioned in 2007, its processing capacity is 600,000 tons/year of petroleum products with an annual production capacity of 160,000 tons of gasoline and 190,000 tons of fuel oil, in addition to the production of butane, propane, and kerosene. The Adrar refinery supplies various petroleum products to the wilayas of Adrar, Timimoun, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, Ghardaïa, El Ménéa, Ain Salah, Tamanrasset, Béchar, Tlemcen, and Tindouf.

On this same occasion, a presentation was made by representatives of the Naftal Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SONATRACH, regarding the distribution of fuels in the Wilaya of Adrar and highlighting the main infrastructures, including 42

service stations, a liquefied petroleum gas filling center, a fuel tank, as well as a supply center for aircraft.

As a reminder, Naftal supplies the southwest of the country with fuel oil, unleaded gasoline, liquefied petroleum gas, and kerosene, in order to meet the growing demand for petroleum products in these regions. Continuing his field visit, Mr. Rachid Hachichi inspected the various production facilities of the Adrar refinery, which underwent partial maintenance in June and July 2025. Notably, this periodic maintenance was carried out exclusively by Algerian expertise, which once again highlights the high level of mastery of these complex operations by the engineers and technicians of the SONATRACH Group. At the end of this visit, the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Rachid Hachichi, inaugurated the occupational medicine center at the living base of the Adrar refinery. Equipped with the cutting-edge facilities to ensure the health care of the refinery workers, this infrastructure offers comprehensive medical services including prevention, screening, referral, and follow-up.

Throughout this visit, SONATRACH reasserted its unwavering commitment to ensuring a regular supply of petroleum products to the national market, particularly in the southwestern wilayas, while continuing to strengthen its production capacity and pursuing the implementation of its development plan throughout the hydrocarbons value chain, in order to sustain the growth of the national economy and foster the goals of sustainable development.
