SONATRACH gives a strategic attention to promoting Research & Development (R&D) as a paramount lever for achieving the major objectives namel:
Excellence and know-how center SONATRACH encourages and leads an ambitious policy of applied research and technological development, in line with the priorities of its core businesses.
It also strives to strenghten a large- scale scientific and technical cooperation, by developing a structured exchange network with the main R&D players on the national and international levels. This network includes, universities, high schools, research centers, as well as foreign oil companies and industrial partners.
The Central Management of Research & Development places its expertise at the service of the operational structures by meeting in a targeted approach their specific needs.
The research themes are focused on concrete, innovative solutions that are applicable on the field. All the projects underway are centred around eight strategic axes:
Patents constitute strategic levers for SONATRACH. They protect innovations resulting from research and development, optimize the industrial processes and capitalize on technologies developed internally.
True instruments of technological sovereignty, patents contribute to the monetization of know-how, reduction of dependency on external technologies and continuous improvement of industrial performance.
By actively underpinning patented innovative solutions, the Central Management Research & Development (DC R&D) strengthens the Group’s competitiveness, resilience and sustainability, while accompanying the energy transition and the evolvements of the hydrocarbon sector.
To date, SONATRACH holds 31 patents of technological solutions filed at the Algerian National Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI).
