Skikda, 14 July 2026,
Mr. Nour Eddine DAOUDI, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of SONATRACH Group accompanied by Mr. Said AKHROUF Wali of the Wilaya of Skikda, launched officially, today, the construction works for the seawater desalination plant in the borough of Ben M’Hidi in the presence of the CEO of the Sonatrach External and Support Activities Holding ( SAES) , the CEOs of Algerian Desalination Company (ADC) and the National Pipeline Company ( ENAC) as well as local authorities and Managing Executives from the Group.
The future plant will have a production capacity of 140 000 cubic meters per day, of which 100 000 cubic meters per day destined to supply the Skikda industrial area and 40 000 cubic meters per day to l’Algerienne des Eaux (ADE).
The duration for the completion of this project will not exceed 24 months, in compliance with the highest technical and engineering standards.
This project is part of the implementation of the orientations of the Country’s highest Authorities aiming at reinforcing water security and sovereignty. The project of the plant has been entrusted to the Algerian Desalination Company and the works execution to the National Pipelines Company, both subsidiaries of SONATRACH Group.
The launch of this project illustrates SONATRACH steady commitment to carry out strategic projects, thus, contributing to reinforce water security, promote sustainable development and strengthen national control on matter of water resources.
