Mr. NOUR EDDINE DAOUDI, APPOINTED AS NEW CHAIRMAN & CEO of SONATRACH

The Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mr. Mohamed ARKAB, officially installed Mr. Nour Eddine DAOUDI as Chairman and CEO of SONATRACH Group on Sunday, October 26th, 2025, to take over from Mr. Rachid HACHICHI.

The ceremony took place at the headquarters of the company and was attended by members of the SONATRACH Board of Directors, senior officials from the Ministry, and the Presidents of ALNAFT and ARH.

In his address, the Minister of State declared that the appointment of the new Chairman and CEO takes place at a time of new impetus in the hydrocarbons and mining sector, reflecting the strategic vision of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid TEBBOUNE.

The Minister of State also praised the Group’s significant achievements while underlining the challenges and opportunities facing SONATRACH. He added that Algeria is counting on SONATRACH to keep its forefront position among the leading companies in the sector.

These challenges and opportunities encompass increasing national production capacity, particularly for natural gas, developing petrochemical projects to strengthen the processing industry, expanding international cooperation through new contracts and partnerships with major global companies, accelerating the energy transition, reducing carbon emissions and modernizing exploration and production systems using cutting-edge digital technologies.

During the ceremony, the Minister of State expressed his full confidence in Mr. Nour Eddine DAOUDI, describing him as a leading figure in the Algerian energy sector and praising his technical expertise and ability to strategically manage complex projects and negotiate with major global companies.

He also expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Mr. Rachid Hachichi for his efforts deployed during his tenure as head of the Group and for the high sense of responsibility he demonstrated.

For his part, Mr Nour Eddine DAOUDI expressed his deep awareness of the duties further to his appointment as Chairman & CEO of SONATRACH, whom he described as a pillar of the national economy and at the core of the country’s energy industry, constitutes the essential lever for national economic development.

Mr. Nour Eddine DAOUDI expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid TEBBOUNE, for the trust placed in him. He also thanked the Minister of State for his continued support and guidance.

Mr. Noureddine DAOUDI further expressed his full awareness of the honor and responsibilities linked to his new position, characterized by high aspirations and numerous challenges, within a global and regional context marked by deep changes in the energy sector.

With this in mind, he pledged, along with the support of all the company’s managers and employees, to work towards building a stronger and more resilient company, open to new perspectives and resolutely focused on the future with confidence through investments in clean and renewable energy, innovation in research and development, and the improvement of SONATRACH’s competitiveness.

He affirmed on this occasion that SONATRACH’s most valuable asset is its human resources.

The Chairman and CEO of SONATRACH shared his vision for the future of SONATRACH, aiming to make it a regional and global leader, capable of ensuring national energy security, strengthening Algeria’s position on the international scene, while remaining faithful to the values of sustainability and environmental and social responsibility.

As a reminder, Mr. Nour Eddine DAOUDI holds a state engineering degree in geology, obtained in 1987 from the Houari Boumediene University of Science and Technology of Bab Ezzouar – Algiers (USTHB). He joined SONATRACH one year after graduating, holding several positions of responsibility within the Exploration Division, while introducing modern technical and scientific approaches to improve performance and strengthen geological knowledge.

In 2018, he was appointed Director of the Exploration Division, a position he held until the end of 2019.

In April 2020, he was appointed President of the National Agency for the Valorization of Hydrocarbon Resources (ALNAFT), a position he held until June 2023. During this period, he undertook a comprehensive reform to modernize the Agency, focusing on improving management, consolidating the principles of transparency and efficiency, and improving the investment climate in the hydrocarbon sector.
